It's true! I finished my last day yesterday and head in tomorrow for my first day at the new place. I got hired by Cafe Kubal, a local roaster and collection of cafes here in Syracuse. As a result of my couple years in the PNW (I've been back in NY for 2+ years now), returning home I've felt devastation on a deep level over the lack of great donuts and coffee in the overall Northeast area. And in case you were wondering, those are necessities for a full and functional life. The great news is local independent coffee shops appear to be doing great now, because let's face it, it's cool to be a coffee snob. And I'm so unashamed of it. (Can a girl get some good donuts though? Just something with maple?) That being said, Kubal is among those shops, thriving off of the enthusiastic locals, and I cannot wait to be a part of it.
Not only will I be finally fulfilling one of my greatest dreams (greatest as in recently developed over the last fourish years) of becoming a barista who is taught and held to a great standard of skill (that's right Portlandia!) (it would actually fulfill another one of my greatest dreams if Fred Armisen wrote a sketch making fun of me), BUT, I am also getting be a paid design/social media/marketing intern! Yeah. I'm only a little bit excited.
This is one of a few major changes happening for us this summer. I'll tell you more about the others soon. But for now, if you happen to be in the area, (or I guess even live in Syracuse..mom, I know you're reading this), come by one of our cafes and check it out! And stay tuned for more obnoxious and trite graphics such as this one coming your way. It's going to be good guys.
